Dennis, Baker, and McClain Extend Points Lead with Wins At Woodhull Raceway

(WOODHULL,NY)- The sea of ‘Jake Davis Memorial’ shirts flooded Woodhull Raceway. Dgien Trucking and Carapella’s Collision were on hand to present Saturday’s racing action.
Brian Doolittle and Ryan Tracy brought the 24-car Insinger Performance Modified field to the green flag. Doolittle grabbed the lead while Art Goodier got by Tracy. Before lap one could be finished, Goodier grabbed the lead away from Doolittle. Dayton Brewer started powering early and grabbed second. Billy Van Pelt started in the middle of the pack and started battling Donnie Lawson and Bobby Davis for the tenth position.
Brewer started to put pressure on Goodier but a caution would reset the field on lap seven. Josh Nobriga who rode in the top five waiting for an opening found one on lap nine. Nobriga grabbed the lead and wasn’t letting up for anything. Meanwhile behind him, Van Pelt and Cory Costa were coming up through the field but got tangled up with a caution. Ron Cartwright Jr. steadily stayed in the top five and worked his way up to second but didn’t have enough to catch Nobriga. Goodier, Lawson, and Brewer would finish the top five.
The Cummings Trucking RUSH Crate Late Models were lead to the green flag by Kane Stebbins and Joe Layfield. At the drop of the green flag cars went three wide battling for the lead. Kane Stebbins grabbed the lead. Jason Knowles made his way up to the top three after started seventh. Kurt Stebbins and Knolwles would battle for the lead until Knowles would get it on lap eight.
Knowles pulled away while the 2018 Track Champion, Steve LeBarron worked his way back up to fourth after being involved in a caution. Knowles was still on the hammer stretching his lead back out after a restart. Haggerty battled Kurt Stebbins for second but Kurt Stebbins would keep second at the finish line. Knowles claimed the victory with Kurt Stebbins, Haggerty, LeBarron, and Zach Weich finishing in the top five.
Carter Dennis and Brent Williams brought the Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks to their green flag. C. Dennis grabbed the lead but Lee Bills would not let C. Dennis get away that easy. Current points leader, Jeredd Dennis would sneak his way up to make it a three car battle for the lead. Behind, the Dennis men and Bills, Riley Gordon, Chris Woodard, Scott Brown and AJ Niedermaier would go four wide battling for positions.
J. Dennis, C. Dennis and Bills would continue their three car battle for the lead until lap ten with J. Dennis getting the official lead. Woodard would make his way up to fourth on lap 17 and battled Bills and C. Dennis for positions. J. Dennis clicked off his second win of the season with, Bills, C. Dennis, Woodard, and Niedermaier finishing behind him.
Joe Gillespie and Nate Freeland brought the Johnson’s Auto Supply FWD to green. Freeland grabbed the lead as cars scrambled behind him grabbing positions. Adam DelGrosso jumped up to third while current points leader Codie Baker had to fight his way to the front. Scott Lehman Jr. battled with Freeland for the lead while DelGrosso and Baker would work together to get by some cars.
Baker was powering his way through and gained the lead on lap five. Ryan Austin battled for positions but suffered from a wreck and was unable to finish the race. DelGrosso and Freeland battled for fourth while Ronnie Dailey snuck his way up into the fifth spot. Baker won with Lehman Jr., Freeland, DelGrosso, and Dailey in tow.
The NAPA Crate Sportsman field was led by Blake Lawson and Cole Youse. Youse grabbed the lead and held his ground while the field shuffled behind him. Brayden Bills worked the bottom side holding his ground while Kenny Peoples Jr. worked his way from 12th to third on the high side.
AJay Potrzebowski Jr. moved into the top five and followed his line waiting for the right time to get by the cars in front of him. Peoples Jr. claimed the lead over Youse on lap eight. AJ Costley also put his #40 machine up to the top five battling with Potrzebowski Jr. and Brett Buono. Peoples Jr. claimed his third victory in a row with Potrzebowski Jr in second, Youse, Bills and Costley rounding out the top five.
The Daugherty Auto Sales and Service Woodhull Warriors were given their green flag and Tess Johnson grabbed the lead. Josh Isaman and Cayden Lawson battled by Johnson and continued to battle each other for the lead. Lawson grabbed the lead and Isaman followed in tow. Brooke McClain powered up through the field and was behind both of them. Isaman had car trouble and ended up going into the pits to later come back on track a lap down. McClain claimed the victory with Jacob Tubbs, Bordy Amidon, Cayden Lawson, and Ethan Decker rounding out the top five.
Noah Talada and Mike Williams led the fifteen car field of Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks to the green flag. Williams grabbed the lead while the field went four and five wide to battle for positions. Brett Marlatt found a run on the bottom and made it to second. Lap six last week’s winner, Jared Hill started to battle against Williams for the lead as Marlatt spun and had to go to the tail of the field.
Up through the field came Kurt Stebbins who by lap seven was barley leading. A familiar face to the ‘highbanks’ Dylan Cecce also was running his no. 7x machine and came up through the pack to sixth place by lap seven. Stebbins grabbed the lead and pulled away after lap seven. This left Cecce, Crawford, Williams and Hill to battle for the top five positions. Hill claimed the second spot with Cecce, Crawford and Williams following.
The Daugherty Auto Sales and Service Mini Stocks were the final class of the night. Scott Lehman grabbed the lead early while Ray Hyer nosed into second. Josh Webster, Jason Ketrow and Carter Crooker all battled for positions getting them closer to the front. Hyer snagged the lead from Lehman on lap eight.
The battle continued behind Hyer and Ketrow, Travis Webster and Lehman went three wide for second place on lap 14. Ketrow won the battle and moved in on Hyer attempting to take the lead away from him. Ketrow managed to get the lea off of turn four on lap 17 but on lap 18 Hyer took it right back. Hyer scored the victory with Ketrow, T. Webster, Rick Amidon and Lehman rounding out the top five.
