(Woodhull, NY) The Annual Scott Dennison Memorial Event will pull the curtain on the month of May and at the same time help open the Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Woodhull Raceway.
Traditionally Memorial Day Weekend kicks off a summer filled with plenty of family fun, vacations, trips to the beach, camping and other outdoor activities and this year will be no exception as after a year without race fans due to COVID 19 in 2020, Motorsports is right at the top of the list of must do events in “21”.
Like the George Williams Memorial, which is run a week prior on May 22, The Scott Dennison will follow with a special $1,000 to win Joe Willcox Performance Street Stock 35 lap feature event named in honor of Dennison who tragically lost his life in an exhibition event at the speedway over fifteen years ago. Dennison was a huge supporter of Woodhull and the Super Stock Division and since his untimely death an event in his memory has been run annually beginning in 2005.
A who’s who list of competitors have found victory lane in the Dennison Memorial including such standout drivers like Dylan Cecce, Glen Whritenour, Bruce Miller, Brady and Jeremy Wonderling making them the only brother duo to win the event. Brett Marlatt won in 2019 duplicating his father, Rich’s victory in 2006 making them the only father/son combo to win the prestigious event.
Drivers like Brett Crawford, Kurt and Kane Stebbins, Josh Webster, Teddy and Brandon Morseman along with Laverne Knickerbocker will all be staking their claim to the Scott Dennison Memorial Trophy.
Also, on the card the Insinger Performance Modifieds will be in action along with the NAPA Crate Sportsman. The Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Mini Stocks, the Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks, the Johnson Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives’ and a fifteen lap Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Warrior feature rounds out the night of excitement. The Cummings Trucking RUSH Late Models will have the night off as many will be traveling to a RUSH Late Model Tour event at Genesee Speedway.
Pit and grandstand gates for the May 29, 2021 event open at 4:30 pm with racing at 6:30.
