Each Adult Class Feature Winner to receive an added $200 in memory of those the track has lost.

A pair of heavyweight sponsors in RLB Trucking and Southern Tier Customs to sponsor the night.

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr. Promotions and Consulting LLC.

(Woodhull, NY) Throughout the tracks 57-year history, the Woodhull Raceway has lost numerous drivers, sponsors, car owners, crew members, employees and fans. COVID has taken its toll over the past few years, however many others succumbed to natural causes and the track lost a pair of drivers as both Scott Dennison and Lyle Sherwood were taken while in actual race competition.

“This track has lost so many greats over the years that if we had a Memorial Tribute for everyone, there are just not enough dates available. When Terry and I put the 2022 schedule together this season we decided to this Race of Remembrance Night in honor of all those that we have lost. Fans, drivers, staff, sponsors. Far too many to list. They all will be remembered on June 18, 2022. That according to track co-owner, Niki Brewer.

Kenny Shupp Jr., who oversees the Public Relations part of the Woodhull Raceway would like to see fans and drivers that it one step further.

“I have been involved with this place for over 50 years in one capacity or another. During that time, I have seen a countless number of current and past drivers, fans, track employees and sponsors pass away. On June 18 I would love to see everyone wear some type of shirt or make a banner or flag of one of their favorites that is no longer with us. I know I will be wearing my Dylan DeWert T-shirt as we lost him last fall to Pancreatic Cancer. On there will also be the name of Janice Knowles, deceased wife of former Track Champion, Larry Knowles who we lost a year and half ago. I will also have the name of Steve Kellogg on my shirt as he was a huge part of this track as a flagger and race director. All were close friends and big participants at Woodhull for decades. As for the drivers it would be impressive for them to put something on their car in remembrance of someone who was involved at the track that is no longer with us. What Niki and Terry Brewer are doing with the Race of Remembrance is long over-do and it is an event that will grow from year to year”!

Gate times for both pit and grandstand entry for the June 18 event is set for 4:30 pm.

On the track it will be a Regular Great 8 Event featuring all weekly classes including the Insinger Performance Modifieds, the Armstrong RUSH Crate Late Models and the NAPA 602 Crate Sportsman. Also in action will be the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, the Hobby Stocks and a pair of Wicked Tee’s sponsored divisions in the Mini Stock and Warrior Classes. The Front Wheel Drive’s round out the card.

Two sponsors will be onboard to help celebrate the Race of Remembrance Event as RLB Trucking of Jasper and Southern Tier Customs of Woodhull will tag team the event.

RLB Trucking owner, Roland Brewer has been a big player at Woodhull for decades in sponsoring nights of competition. Brewer is an owner/operator of his own over the road tractor trailer specializing in flat bed hauling services including hay, lumber, equipment and palletized products. In addition to the night of sponsorship, RLB Trucking’s name is also located on several different machines that compete weekly at Woodhull. Both Roland Brewer along with his long-time partner, Lin Cady will both be at Woodhull as well as a host of other family, friends and business constituents enjoying the night of competition.
