Schweigart's Maple Equip, Louie's Gun Shop, Outback Liquor and Wines Present Jim Williams Memorial

A Great 8 Show on the speedway to cap off an aggressive night of entertainment.

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.

(Woodhull, NY) Historically the Jim Williams Memorial at the Woodhull Raceway is the biggest attended night of the season. Year after year fans flock to the facility for what is arguable the biggest and best fireworks show in the region. Jim Williams was a great race promoter; Old School and he did not stand for any shenanigans. Back then social media was not even thought of and even if it were, Jim would not have even been bothered with it. He ran a tight- ship and everyone knew where they stood with Jim. It is in his memory that this event continues. There are four events at this facility that will not go away and they are the George Williams Memorial, Scott Dennison Memorial, Jim Williams Memorial and the Lyle Sherwood Memorial.

The fireworks tradition was started decades ago by the late Jim Williams who along with his family owned the historic Steuben County Speedway and that torch has been passed onto other track owners including Scott and Amy Drake, Vern Wasson, Ted and Brandy White and current Woodhull Raceway owners, Terry and Niki Brewer.

“Even before we purchased the track over a year ago, we knew that Jim Williams Fireworks Night was big. We have been attending the Jim Williams event for along time and now it is our pleasure to bring what many consider the best fireworks program in this region to the fans. Last year we did not have fireworks because fans were not allowed in, but this season we have a lot planned. That according to the Brewer’s.
