(WOODHULL, NY) – Who will be the NAPA Auto Parts Crate Sportsman King of the Ring?
That question will be answered on Saturday night as White’s Repair & Towing presents the racing action on the High Banks. NAPA Auto Parts, the Crate Sportsman division sponsor, will also present the annual King of the Ring event for the Crate drivers.
The King of the Ring is a ‘knockout style’ single elimination match race that sees drivers compete in two lap match races. The winner of each match race moves on to the next round, while the second place car heads back to the trailer to make final adjustments for that night’s A-Main.
Tim Guild picked up a big victory on Saturday night and will be a big favorite going into this special event. But being fast in the feature and even being a top points finisher doesn’t always guarantee success in the King of the Ring event. The short two-lap format lends itself to opening up the field to a surprise winner.
Saturday night is also Driver Autograph Night! All of Woodhull’s weekly competitors will bring their bright machinery onto the frontstretch during intermission for a 20-30 minute autograph session. Drivers are encouraged to bring goodies to hand out to the race fans, young and ‘seasoned.’ Hero cards, race photos and the like are also encouraged and taking stock in sharpie markers is recommended.
Woodhull Raceway’s photo and apparel booth will also have autograph books in limited supplies available for just $1. The books will list all drivers on the active roster and will leave a spot for them to sign their autograph, to make a nice keepsake for all the young race fans.
All of Woodhull Raceway’s racing divisions will be on hand, including the Insinger Performance Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, SWL Awards Crate Late Models, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks, Daugherty Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks, Bear’s Auto Body Front Wheel Drives and Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Warriors.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $12 for adults 13 and up. Seniors 62+ and Students 8-12 will be $6. Children 7 and under are always free at Woodhull Raceway. Free camping is offered on the speedway grounds for those wishing to make it a weekend of family, friends and dirt track racing.
Race fans are encouraged to sign up for the fastest alerts from Woodhull Raceway’s Rained Out Alert system by sending the text message “WoodhullAlert” to 84483, message and data rates may apply.
