(WOODHULL, NY) – Branden Morseman made some changes to his program for the 2018 season, and to say that they have been an improvement would be a vast understatement.

Morseman and his Duke Company, RPM Enterprises No. 44m have been the car to beat so many times throughout the 2018 season. Bad luck and being at the wrong place at the wrong time has limited Morseman to a lone victory back on May 26.

But Saturday night during the 2nd Annual Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stock King of the Ring, the driver out of Addison, NY advanced all the way to the finals to compete against Kurt Stebbins for the title.

As the pair exited turn four to complete lap one, Morseman got a great run off turn four and tried to close the door to the run on the outside lane that he figured Stebbins would get. In a sudden death, faceoff-style event- Stebbins kept his foot in the gas to try and pull up alongside as long as he could.

The two made contact, Morseman’s right rear to Stebbins’ left front. Stebbins suffered damage to the front fender and would lose ground and the victory to Morseman. Morseman tried explaining his side of the race with Stebbins afterwards, but the event left some hard feelings.

“I watched those guys and the 26 car and they were getting such a good run off the top,” said Morseman. “My only shot to clear them was to be aggressive. (You want to be aggressive) but I don’t come out here to tear up someone else’s racecar either.”

Stebbins was very short for comments after the race, but kept his comments professional and looked ahead to getting ready for Saturday night’s feature race.

As two of the faster cars in the division this season, this surely won’t be the last time these two will face off between the remaining point shows and Woodhull’s annual Fall Specials.
