(WOODHULL, NY) – The high-banked, one-third-mile Woodhull Raceway is known as ‘New York’s Toughest Bullring.’

On Wednesday, August 8, the Ted and Brandi White-owned facility will be the focal point of Northeast Modified racing when the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco invades for its annual summer visit.

The STSS Modifieds compete for a $5,400 top prize in the ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 54’ presented by NAPA Auto Parts of Addison and Corning, Two Rivers Timber and Maple City Dodge. The non-top-heavy pay structure offers $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green for 54 laps around the unique Woodhull oval.

The event serves as Race No. 5 of the STSS Halmar International North Region, with a cool $12,500 awaiting the champion at year-end.

The ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 54’ marks the fourth STSS appearance at Woodhull. Each year, the race has provided fans with their share of excitement.

In 2015, Stewart Friesen made his first Woodhull appearance a winning one, edging local Dylan Dewert for the top prize. Two years ago, New Jersey’s Ryan Godown etched his name on the track’s win list after a dramatic three-wide battle for the lead that saw Andy Bachetti slide off the top of turn three.

Bachetti got his retribution in 2017, narrowly edging Anthony Perrego and Matt Sheppard in a race to the line.

Who will it be this year? A fast 54 laps will decide it.

Also on the program are the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman in a $1,000-to-win, 25-lap event. This is the second of five events in the North Region. Dale Welty won the opener at Afton (N.Y.) Motorsports Park on July 26.

Street Stocks complete the tripleheader in their first 25-lap Challenge event.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 4 p.m. The drivers’ meeting is set for 5:45 p.m. with hot laps to follow. Racing starts at 7 p.m.

Adult general admission is $20. Seniors (ages 62 and up) and Students (ages 7-11) pay $10. Kids 6 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $35, with no license required.

A Thursday night (August 9) rain date is in effect for this event.

Woodhull Raceway is located at 2142 County Route 102 Woodhull, NY 14898 (Right off Route 417). The speedway can be contacted by phone at 607.458.5275, online at www.woodhullraceway.com or by calling promoter Ted White at 607.857.1336.
