(WOODHULL, NY) - Late Models have been a staple over the year's at Woodhull Raceway, with some fans loving the current version of Crate Late Models over any other division.
One person at Woodhull Raceway loves the Crate Late Models so much, they have decided to put their money where their heart lies for this Saturday's race. With Late Models off the racing card at several area tracks and Woodhull having given the Late Models the week off last week, they will have 1,000 reasons to come race this Saturday.
The SWL Awards Crate Late Models will race for $1,000-to-win on Saturday night at Woodhull Raceway, with this fan's only stipulation being that 12 cars at minimum come out to support the larger purse race. Interest in this race was already high due to several tracks giving the Late Models the night off or not racing this weekend, so a larger field is expected and shouldn't have any problem hitting that minimum of 12.
Kurt Stebbins will lead the pack into Saturday's race as the last Crate Late Model winner back on May 26. But the ground-pounding duo of John Waters and 2017 track champion Steve LeBarron will also be in the mix for the $1,000 top prize.
The Knowles boys would be likely candidates to race Saturday, with Jason already a feature winner in 2018 and Brian who has debuted a brand new chassis in the last week to 10 days. Don't count out 2017 Rookie of the Year Darin Horton in the Krise family-owned No. 66 and Jason McGregor who are both looking for their first Crate Late Model victories- with McGregor a former 360 Late Model winner on the High Banks.
Also on the racing card for Patrick Hoopes Trucking Night Saturday night will be the Super Gen Products/Champion Power Equipment CRSA 305 Sprints plus the Insinger Performance Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Daughtery’s Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks and Bear's Auto Body Front Wheel Drives. The Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Warriors and Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks have the week off.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $14 for adults 13 and up. Seniors 65+ and ages 8-12 will be $7. Children 7 and under are always free at Woodhull Raceway as well as plenty of room for FREE Camping.
Pit passes have been set at $35 and the pit area will open at 3:30 for early arriving teams. Our weekly Early Bird Special runs from 4:30-5:30 and offers $1 off general admission. Heat in the sprint car motors will take place at 5:45 with Hot Laps slated for 6:00. The green flag for the first set of heat races will be dropped by Scott Lyon at 6:30.
Don't forget that there are only three weeks remaining in the Lil' Miss/Lil' Mr. Woodhull contest, so bring your non-perishable food items to the track to 'vote' for your favorite candidate for 2018's Miss or Mister Woodhull. The contest will conclude after Hot Laps on June 23rd.
