(WOODHULL, N.Y.) – Falling snow and cold temperatures are the culprit this week, leading to Ted White’s decision to cancel opening weekend for the second straight week at Woodhull Raceway.

Snowfall at the track overnight Wednesday and Thursday morning, along with race time temperatures expected to be in the mid-30’s and dropping rapidly made Saturday night’s program impossible to put on.

“We don’t feel that it’s fair to the fans to ask them to support us with weather like we are expecting to have Saturday,” said White Thursday morning. “Next week already looks like better weather, so we will start our season with the Mountain Dew/Pepsi Modified Kickoff.”

Attention now turns to next Saturday's Season Opener for all divisions. The first point race of the season will feature the Insinger Performance Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman SWL Awards Crate Late Models, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks, Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks, Bear’s Auto Body Front Wheel Drives and the Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Warriors.

All divisions will be draw/redraw, however the Modifieds will participate in a special ‘revenge draw’ for starting positions 1-12 in their 25-lap feature event. Race fans will be paired up with a Modified driver, with a chance to win a Woodhull Raceway prize pack.

Street Stock racers curious about the Challenge Series will note some changes in the schedule after the first two cancellations of the year. Their Challenge Series will now be decided on August 8, September 22 for the Woodhull 100 and on Saturday September 29 during Bullring Challenge Weekend.

The Bear's Auto Body/C.B. Motorsports Front Wheel Drive Challenge Series will now compete in their four-race series all during the month of September on 9/8, 9/22, 9/28 and 9/29. Cars from many surrounding tracks are expected to attend these events that will follow SCDRA rules, with the exception of these races allowing cold air intakes.

Pit gates will swing open at 3:30pm, with pit passes being set at $30 for pit admission for all ages. General Admission gates will open at 4:00 with Woodhull's Early Bird Special that runs from 4:00-5:00 where fans can receive $1 off admission. General admission is $12 for adults 13 and up, Seniors 65+ and ages 8-12 pay the reduced price of $6. Kids 7 & under, as well as camping are always free at Woodhull Raceway.

Lias Tire is the Northeast distributor of American Racer Tires and is the official tire supplier of the Woodhull Raceway. Located in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Lias Tire has continued to have a big presence at Woodhull Raceway in 2018.

Insinger Performance, headquartered in Dushore, Pennsylvania, has been a faithful returning sponsor of Woodhull’s premier Modified division with their Sunoco Race Fuels. Sunoco is the official race fuel of Woodhull Raceway, which is available for purchase each and every week right at the racetrack. Woodhull's season opener for the Modifieds is slated for next Saturday April 28.
