Woodhull Legends Reunion Begins Saturday With Pre-Race Cookout

(WOODHULL) – The annual Woodhull Legends Reunion will take place this Saturday August 26 along with Scouting Night presented by Swarthout Recycling. Drivers and crew members from over the past fifty-three years will be on hand to bench race and recall memories from the glory days on the ‘High Banks.’

A new twist for 2017 will include a pre-race cookout, which will take place at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Former drivers, crew members and officials may participate in the cookout free of charge- but are asked to sign up on the home page of the track’s website at www.woodhullraceway.com or by email woodhullracewaypr@gmail.com.

Former full-time announcer and current substitute announcer, Morgan Colegrove, has several photo albums prepared for Legends Night to wave the green flag on the evening’s bench racing activity. A pre-race ceremony is also planned to recognize all of the Woodhull Legends in attendance, before the crowd in the grandstands.

It will be a full night of racing as well, as the Insinger Performance 370 Modifieds will be joined by the NAPA Crate Sportsman, SWL Awards Crate Late Models, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Daugherty’s Auto Sales Mini Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives, Daugherty’s Auto Sales Warriors and Hobby Stocks. The rained out Street Stock King of the Ring will be made up Saturday as well, along with the Crate Late Model/Crate Sportsman “Top 3 Dash.”

Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $11 for adults 13 and up. Seniors 65+ and Students age 8-12 will pay a reduced price of $6. Children 7 and under will be free of charge. Free camping is offered on the speedway grounds for those wishing to stay over and camp and make a weekend of it with friends and family.

Swarthout Recycling is a well-known supporter of local motorsports located in Beaver Dams, NY. They specialize in scrap metals including mixed steel, aluminum, copper, brass and cast iron. The recycling department accepts cardboard, newspaper, mixed office paper and junk mail, clear and green glass, tin and plastic. Woodhull Racewat can be found in Woodhull, NY, just 30 minutes West of Corning, NY, competing weekly on Saturday nights from mid-April all the way until Labor Day Weekend.
