(MILLSBORO, DE) – The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP fires into action with a “hot” month of August. Three consecutive Tuesday nights (August 15, 22 & 29) will put competitors of both the Halmar International North Region and Velocita-USA South Region into overdrive as time winds down to the 2017 championships.
Billy Decker will lead the brigade into Woodhull Raceway's event with a narrow twenty-point lead over Andy Bachetti. This event is also an American Racer Cup Challenge Event for the Modified Series, giving a great opportunity for drivers competing in the American Racer Cup to gain an advantage in the point race.
After winning the last STSS event at Albany-Saratoga last week, Matt Sheppard has confirmed that his Sweetener's Plus No. 92s will be in attendance on Tuesday night. Sheppard has been dominant in that machine at Outlaw Speedway in 2017, but Woodhull's high-banked corners will be an animal all it's own.
Ted and Brandi White’s unique Woodhull (N.Y.) Raceway comes to life on Tuesday, August 22 (rain date: August 23) with the ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 53’ presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Maple City Dodge and Two Rivers Timber. This year’s visit is the third by the Halmar North Region to the high-banked, paper-clip-shaped oval.
The last two editions have been down-to-the-wire crowd-pleasers, with Stewart Friesen edging Dylan DeWert in 2015 and New Jersey’s Ryan Godown emerging from a lead-swapping battle a year ago.
STSS Modifieds race for $5,300 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag and are joined by GRIT Series Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win) and Mini-Stocks ($500 to win).
