(WOODHULL) – Mother Nature cooperated, for the most part, on Saturday night at Woodhull Raceway. Unfortunately, she did not cooperate long enough to get the feature races in.
Two large storms rolled through Steuben County, trumping any chance of completing the show sponsored by SWL Awards and Pro Signs & Designs. All heats were completed and the Daugherty Auto Sales Warriors feature was in the books.
Although the heats were completed, Woodhull Raceway owners Ted and Brandi White are extending an offer to rain check the entire program. Race fans can use their ticket stubs or pit pass wristbands to gain admission to either Tuesday night's Short Track Super Series event or this coming Saturday night's racing program. If used on Tuesday night, fans and teams will need to pay the difference in the price of the ticket.
With only three point races remaining, there is not enough time to fit in seven make up features which prompted track officials to scrap the entire show and offer rain checks.
"Running double features on Championship Night would not be fair to anyone," said Ted White. "We won't do that to our racers in the running for a championship. We also don't want to run races until 1am for the next two weeks, so makeup features just were not a good option either."
The 270 Micro Sprints were also on hand and are tentatively scheduled to return on August 27th. The 270 teams are encouraged to hold on to their pit wristbands to gain admission when they return in two weeks.
Next up for Woodhull Raceway is a huge event with the Short Track Super Series, promoted by Brett Deyo. 'Hustlin' The High Banks 52' will kick off Wednesday night with the Short Track Super Series Modifieds going 52 laps for $5,200-to-win, $1,000 for 10th place and $400 to take the green flag. They will be joined by the Super Gen Products Grit Racing Series going 30 laps for $1,000-to-win and $100-to-start and a Quad C Challenge. Race time is 7PM.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Wednesday at 4PM for only $20 for adults 13 and up. Seniors and ages 8-12 will be $10. The pit area will carry a $35 charge for pit passes. Children 7 and under are always free at Woodhull Raceway. Free camping is offered on the speedway grounds.
