Mother Nature Claims Sixth Victory In 2021; High Banks Has Another Rain Out
Next racing event at Woodhull scheduled for July 31 as the track will be silent of any race action on July 24 due to the Lamb and Webster Sponsored LUCAS OIL Truck and Tractor Pull at the facility.
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Woodhull, NY). It has been one of those years in the northeast quadrant of the United States where rain and lots of it has dictated most of the outdoor activities including Motorsports.
After morning showers and thunderstorms rocked the Southern Tier Region of Upstate New York an early afternoon band of intense showers passed thru jeopardizing any hopes of getting the July 17 event into the books at the Woodhull Raceway and with a weather radar of nothing but heavy rain throughout late afternoon and into the evening, track owners, Terry and Niki Brewer had no choice but the pull the plug (literally) on the race events.
To make things worse the National Weather Service posted Tornado Warnings for the Steuben County area for the mid to late afternoon part of the day.
For the second- year track owners it was déjà vu all over again as for the sixth time in 2021 the popular Steuben County facility has had to cancel due to the wrath of Mother Nature.
“We just haven’t been able to get into any kind of a rhythm this year, stated the Brewer’s. It is like we have taken two steps forward and one back and in some cases one forward and two back. It has been that kind of a year where it has rained almost every day and this area has been hit extremely hard with a lot of powerful storms. Hopefully, it straightens out and we can get a good month of August.”
Next Saturday, race action on the High Banked One-Third of a Mile Oval will lay dormant as the facility will give way to the Annual LUCAS OIL Truck and Tractor Pull. Many of the region’s top pullers will converge at Woodhull for this high-powered event featuring the Heavy Super Mod, Light Super Stock and Super Farm Tractors along with the Outlaw Mafi Semi Trucks, Street Semi and 2.6 Smooth Bore Pick-ups.
Gates open at 4:30 pm with an anticipated start of 6:30 pm. Grandstand admission is $16.00.
Lamb and Webster will be onboard as the sponsor of the LUCAS Oil Truck and Tractor Pull Event.
The next scheduled race event is set for Saturday, July 31 which will see the annual running of the Dgien Trucking sponsored 1 on 1 Modified King of the Ring Event in conjunction with a Regular Great 8 Show.
The originally scheduled ULMS Super Late Model Series which was to have run a make up event at Woodhull after their June 19, 2021 rainout has been dropped due to a scheduling conflict on that date with another venue running a make up Late Model Show from an earlier season rainout at that track. That coupled with a potential tire shortage along with several teams parked waiting for engine components.
Woodhull Raceway track owners, Terry and Niki Brewer are already in negotiations with ULMS promoter, Chris Zuver for a potential 2022 date.
More details will be forthcoming in an upcoming press release.
The NAPA Sportsman 1 on 1 King of the Ring event that was re-scheduled for July 17 after being lost on July 3 due to rain will be made up later with an announcement expected soon.
The New York State Stock Car Association along with the Addison Eagles who were to sponsor the July 17 event will both return later as well.
