(WOODHULL) – One of Woodhull’s crown jewel memorial races falls on Saturday June 2 with the 14th annual Scott Dennison Memorial presented by RLB Trucking and Team 25. The Street Stocks, for the second time, will compete for title of Scott Dennison Memorial winner.
The event started officially in 2005 to pay tribute to a fallen Woodhull racer who was tragically killed on the frontstretch at “New York’s Toughest Bullring” in an ATV racing accident. Dennison is remembered as a very likeable and missed presence in the Woodhull Raceway pit area.
Dennison lived and breathed his family and anything that went fast. The first Scott Dennison Memorial took place in 2005 and was won by Ken Peoples Sr. in his famous truck bodied No. 5k. The event started out being held in the Super Stock division in 2005 and 2006.
But as the Super Stocks were phased out and the 360 Late Models were phased in, the Scott Dennison race migrated to the Late Models. In 2017, Woodhull Raceway management transitioned this prestigious race back to the Street Stock division.
Ten different drivers have won the Scott Dennison Memorial, including 2017 Street Stock division champion Dylan Cecce. Three drivers have even won the race twice- Jeremy Wonderling, Bruce Miller and Glenn Whritenour. However, it’s likely that a maximum of only two previous winners will be in the starting field on Saturday night.
The exclusive list of Scott Dennison Memorial winners include:
2005- Ken Peoples Sr.
2006- Rich Marlatt
2007- Brady Wonderling
2008- Wayne Robertson
2009- Jeremy Wonderling
2010- Bruce Miller
2011- Jeremy Wonderling
2012- Billy Van Pelt
2013- Glenn Whritenour
2014- Carl Hughes
2015- Glenn Whritenour
2016- Bruce Miller
2017- Dylan Cecce
Also on the racing card for that night will be the Insinger Performance Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks, Daughtery’s Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks, Bear's Auto Body Front Wheel Drives and Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Warriors. The Crate Late Models have a weekend off due to traveling series events taking place Saturday at Genesee Speedway.
Pit gates will swing open on Saturday afternoon at 3:30, carrying a pit pass fee of $30.
