(WOODHULL) – This Saturday night at ‘New York’s Toughest Bullring,’ Woodhull Raceway honors the many volunteer and career Fire and EMS professionals with FREE general admission with a valid Fire/EMS ID. It will also be the first Power Wheels race for the 2017 season, which will be engaging for the youth in attendance on Saturday night.
Those in attendance are encouraged to wear a department t-shirt or polo to proudly promote the community they serve. Several events and different forms of participation will be incorporated into the night’s activities. There will be fire apparatus and a few of Woodhull’s race cars on display as fans enter the admission gates at 4:30.
The Power Wheels races will kick off during intermission, with age groups of 5 and under as well as ages 6 to 10 competing in races on the frontstretch of the third-mile Steuben County oval. The power wheels vehicles must be in stock condition, with no alterations made to encourage increased performance. This event is purely for the kids to enjoy with their parents and promote dirt track racing to the youngest generation of fans.
The Woodhull Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives will also go thirty-five laps in distance. After winning his first of the season, Adam DelGrosso closed the gap in the point race. But Shawn Gleason will be out to try and claim his fourth victory of the season, in what will be an entertaining battle to follow all season long.
Codie Baker, Matt Prescott, Nate Freeland and Steve Gee will all try to claim their first wins of 2017 Saturday night. Baker, 2016 Outlaw Speedway Front Wheel Drive track champion, has been fast so far this season, just hasn’t been able to close the deal in the closing laps.
If all of that wasn’t enough to feed your dirt track appetite- the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks will compete in their first of four Clash 4 Cash events. Four randomly selected drivers will race six laps for a winner-take-all first place prize.
Brico Technologies will present the night’s racing action at Woodhull Raceway on Saturday night. Pre-race activities will include many pieces of fire apparatus on display as well as several stock cars on display just inside the general admission gates.
Also on the racing card for the night will be the Insinger Performance 370 Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, SWL Awards Crate Late Models, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Daughtery’s Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives, Daugherty’s Auto Sales Warriors and Hobby Stocks.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $11 for adults 13 and up. Seniors and ages 8-12 will be $6. Children 7 and under are always free at Woodhull Raceway. Pit passes have been set at $25.
Our weekly Early Bird Special runs from 4:30-5:30 and offers $1 off general admission. Woodhull Raceway offers plenty of space for free camping on site. The green flag for the first set of heat races will be dropped by Scott Lyon at 6:30.
