(WOODHULL, NY) – One thing that Woodhull Raceway holds close to their hearts are the annual memorial races that honor some of the most respected and historical figures in the raceway's past.  One of those special races comes on Saturday night at the third-mile Steuben County oval.

For the twelfth time, the SWL Awards 360 Late Models will compete in the thirty-five lap Scott Dennison Memorial on Saturday night.  The 360 Late Model contingent have this event, sponsored by RLB Trucking and Riverfront Collision, circled on their calendars each race season.

Carl Hughes had a very strong showing last week with a runner-up performance behind Glenn Whritenour.  Hughes was quoted over a year ago, talking about how special the Scott Dennison Memorial is.  He should know- his first career win in the Late Models came on this night just two seasons ago.

"One race that I would love to win again is the Scott Dennison Memorial," said Hughes in a 2015 interview on Turn 5 Live.  "It was my first ever win and it is 'the race' for division."

Hughes is peaking at the right time to try to do so, but perennial Late Model favorite Whritenour seems to be finding his groove again in the No. 15.  Whritenour was snakebit the first four weeks of the season, fighting issues with spark plugs.  But all of that turned around this past Saturday as he picked up win number one of 2016 over Hughes and a hard-charging Bruce Miller.

Although the class numbers have been lean, the competition amongst the 360's have been very close.  In fact, there have been five different winners in five races so far for the SWL 360 Late Models.  Could the Scott Dennison Memorial produce a sixth winner in as many races?  With drivers like Steve LaBarron, Hughes, Mick Seeley and Rick Loucks still searching for their first win of 2016, it very well could happen in Saturday's extra-distance affair.

Again a big thank you goes out to RLB Trucking and Riverfront Collision for their steadfast support of this great event, honoring a young man lost way too soon back in 2004.  Scott Dennison is remembered as a racer that was well-respected for his tireless efforts to help others, including many at Woodhull Raceway.

As fans file into the grandstands on Saturday night, Woodhull Raceway encourages everyone to ask fellow fans about their favorite Scott Dennison stories or share one of their own.  Scott may no longer be with us, but his spirit is felt every week at Woodhull Raceway and this Saturday night, on his night, will be no different.

Alongside the Late Models will be the Insinger Peformance 370 Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Daughtery Auto Sales Mini Stocks and Woodhull Auto Supply FWD.  The Warriors have the week off this week.

Fans can find their way into the grandstands this Saturday at 4:30 for only $12 for ages 13 and up.  Seniors and ages 8-12 are just $6 with children 7 and under always free at Woodhull Raceway. Our weekly Early Bird Special runs from 4:30pm-5:30pm and offers $1 off general admission.

Want to make it a weekend and camp out?  Camping is free each and every week at Woodhull Raceway.  The green flag for the first set of heat races will be dropped by Scott Lyon at 6:30pm.
