For Immediate Release – May 27th, 2016 –
(WOODHULL) – Saturday night is fixing to be one of the most anticipated shows of the season. After running off four straight shows in 2016, Mother Nature has claimed the last two on the High Banks.
Coming up Saturday night at Woodhull Raceway, the annual George Williams Memorial Races will take the green flag on what is also Fire & EMS Night. Local Fire and EMS responders are encouraged to take in the action on Memorial Day Weekend, as they will be admitted to the grandstands free of charge with proper identification.
Brico Technologies, Griffith Energy and Elkland Moose will present the action where the Insinger Performance 370 Modifieds will race thirty-five laps for a top prize of $2,000.
With so many cars showing speed this season at Woodhull, it will be a true toss up to see who the winner will be after thirty-five long laps on the Steuben County oval. Cory Costa’s victory over two weeks ago has him atop the point standings so far, but it’s unknown whether Costa will compete full-time for that championship. With $2,000 on the line and the point lead, Costa could be a safe bet for attendance Saturday night.
Close behind Costa are Boyd McTavish, Billy Van Pelt and Dillon Groover- who all have a one point spread on each other. Mike Bills has been strong at times in 2016 as well, with “The Maniac” looking for victory number one of 2016.
The Front Wheel Drives will also race for thirty-five laps on Saturday night with Shawn Gleason showing the way so far in 2016. Gleason has been the perfect image of consistency with a win, a second place finish and a third place finish since the point season began.
Codie Baker has been on rails himself in his No. 14 car- look for Baker to factor into Saturday night’s win. Then there’s cars like the ‘Maple Cream Kid’ Adam DelGrosso, who is trying desperately to get his season back on track. Add in ‘Puddin’ Joe Birdsall and his No. 63 and we have the makings for a very interesting thirty-five lap affair on Saturday night.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $13. Our weekly Early Bird Special runs from 4:30pm-5:30pm and offers $1 off general admission. The green flag for the first set of heat races will be dropped by Scott Lyon at 6:30pm.
