Patriot Sprint Tour, Short Track Super Series Set To Return For Three Big Dates In 2016
Media Contact: Steven Ovens - firstname.lastname@example.org or (315) 729-3825 For Immediate Release - January 17th, 2016 (Woodhull, N.Y.) – In the first of what will be several schedule announcements made this offseason, Woodhull Raceway is proud to announce that the Patriot Sprint Tour and Brett Deyo’s Short Track Super Series will return for the 2016 race season.
The Patriot Sprint Tour, at the controls of Mike Emhof, will make two big stops to ‘New York’s Toughest Bullring’ with one date in May and one date in July.
“If you’ve never seen the sprint cars at Woodhull- you are missing out,” said Woodhull Raceway owner and promoter Ted White.
“When the 360’s come to town, fans get to see the shear speed and handling ability of these powerful machines.”
The tour will first stop in Steuben County on Saturday May 14th where they will join the 370 Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, 360 Late Models, Street Stocks and Quad C. Bryan Howland will try to capture his fourth career Woodhull victory in 2016, but hopes to try and not get that victory with the last-lap heroics he employed in May of 2015.
Howland hunted down Robbie Stillwaggon to take the lead and the win as the white flag was displayed. Howland went on to win the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals later on that season at Glenn Styres’ Ohsweken Speedway.
The second Patriot Sprint Tour stop of 2016 will comes on Saturday July 23rd, where the powerful 360 Sprints will once again join the 370 Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, 360 Late Models, Street Stocks and Quad C.
Montrose, New York’s Justin Barger took the checkered flag last July, after losing his brakes during the event and navigating lapped traffic the best at the end. It was the third time in four years that Barger had won the July race at Woodhull- accounting for each of his three Woodhull victories.
Emhof recently took over the controls of the CRSA 305 Sprint Car Series, which leaves open the possibility of the 305’s visiting Woodhull in 2016. However a date has not been set at this time, stay tuned to the Woodhull Raceway website and social media outlets for future announcements.
As was previously announced, the Short Track Super Series will return for the second consecutive season on Tuesday August 16th with the second running of ‘Hustlin’ The Highbanks’. This year’s version will be named ‘Hustlin’ The Highbanks 52’, a 52-lap $5,200-to-win Modified main event- part of the Short Track Super Series North Region series.
If 2015 was any indication; this August mid-week program will be one that any dirt fan cannot miss! The inaugural trip for the STSS to Woodhull saw an epic battle for the win between perennial powerhouse Stewart Friesen and local hero Dylan Dewert in his own No. 28.
Friesen and Dewert swapped the lead back and forth for much of the latter stages of the 51-lap affair, with Friesen eventually taking the victory. Friesen later confirmed why Woodhull is known as ‘New York’s Toughest Bullring’ not only due to the challenging one-third-mile layout, but the tough local Southern Tier competitors.
The Short Track Super Series will be once again joined by the GRIT Racing Series Crate Sportsman for a 25-lap event, paying a cool $1,000 to the winner. Woodhull’s popular Quad C 4-Cylinder Challenge will also join the racing card that night.
More information about these three big nights will be forthcoming on the official 2016 schedule. But for now, circle your dirt racing calendars to join the passionate Woodhull fan base to see the excitement of the Patriot Sprint Tour and the Short Track Super Series this season!
