Two longstanding marketing partners in Superior Propane of Woodhull along with the Elkland Moose return to co-sponsor the night of action.

(Woodhull, NY) The Woodhull Raceway has been about tradition. One of the many special events that occurs annually at the historic Steuben County Oval is the George Williams Memorial this year scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2022.
Named in honor of Woodhull’s founding father, George Williams along with his two sons, Jim and Bob designed and built the speedway on their family-owned farmland in one of the most beautiful locations in the Southern Tier of New York. At the age of sixty-five, when most people were nearing retirement, “Old George” as many called him was just getting started as the high banked one third of a mile was carved out. Featuring its paperclip design with long straightaways and tight, high banked corners the unique configuration has more than one driver scratching their head. Many of northeast’s top pilots have at one time or another tried to tame the high banks with many making the comment, “If you can figure out Woodhull, you can race anywhere.”
Now under the ownership of Terry and Nikki Brewer, the Woodhull Raceway George Williams Memorial will continue to be one of the must-see races at the facility. Historically, the event is run prior to the Memorial Day Weekend and 2022 will be no exception and in keeping with tradition The George Williams Memorial helps kid off camping season and other outdoor activities across the Twin Tiers of NY and Pa.
A pair of long-standing George Williams Memorial sponsors will return to the high banked one-third of a mile clay oval. Superior Propane of Woodhull along with the Elkland Moose of Elkland, Pa. will once again team up to co-sponsor the event.
“Superior Propane (Griffith Energy) has been with Woodhull in various capacities for decades, stated Woodhull Raceway owners Terry and Niki Brewer. Their involvement at this facility runs deep and we are pleased to have them return in 2022. Same holds true with the Elkland Moose. This is a great world-wide fraternal organization that does a lot for our local communities. Both have stuck with the track thru the pandemic slow down and now that things are getting back to normal, we are excited to have representatives of Superior Propane and the Elkland Moose here to enjoy this special night where we honor the founding father of the Woodhull Raceway.”
As part of the night of action fans will enjoy a Regular Great 8 Show featuring the Insinger Performance Modifieds as they will run a special 30 lap, $2,500 to win feature event. Also seeing competition will be the Armstrong RUSH Crate Late Models, the NAPA Crate Sportsman and the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks. Rounding out the night of action it will be a complete show of the Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Sponsored Mini Stocks and Warriors, the popular Hobby Stocks and Front Wheel Drive Divisions,
Gates for the May 21, 2022 event open at 4:30 with the first heat race going off at 6:30 pm.
