WOODHULL RACEWAY ACTION CANCELLED BY MOTHER NATURE.

(Woodhull, NY)  A beautiful Saturday afternoon turned in to a torrential downpour canceling any chance of racing at the Woodhull Raceway on April 26.  With several hard showers already pounding the region and with a forecast of more heavy rains during the next several hours, Woodhull track owner, Vern Wasson had no choice but to throw in the towel, something that he isn’t used to doing.

Woodhull Raceway had only one rainout in 2007 and Wasson was hoping to break that record in 08.  “It was my goal to try and not loose any races in 2008, but there was just no way we could survive the heavy rains that came thru the area late in the day.  That according to Wasson.  We’ll just have to try it again next week.”

On tap for the first event in May at Woodhull will be the return of the Mighty L.J. Kennedy Trucking 358 Modifieds for their season opener.  Also on the card for the May 3 show will be the S&W Awards and Photos Crate Sportsman, the NAPA 360 Late Models, the Morgan’s Auto Repair Street Stocks as well as the Signs Plus Mini Stocks and the LaBarron Brothers Repair and Parts Front Wheel Drive Division.

Gates for the May 3 show open at 4:30 with racing at 6:30 with Knight Settlement Sand and Gravel along with Machuga Contractors as the nightly event sponsors.

Mt. Dew who was to sponsor the April 26 event will be rescheduled at a later date.
