NEW September 28th:

Woodhull Raceway Reports 2011

JOE WILLCOX PERFORMANCE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ANNOUNCED AS NEW SPONSOR OF THE STREET STOCK DIVISION AT THE WOODHULL RACEWAY.

( Woodhull , NY )  All good things eventually come to an end and thus is the case with Morgan’s Auto Repair of Woodhull as being the headline sponsor of the every popular Street Stock Division at the Woodhull Raceway.  After a decade and a half of standing behind one of Woodhull’s longest running classes of competition, Morgan’s Auto has decided to step aside as a long time supporter at Woodhull as company owners; Chuck and Melinda Morgan have shifted their focus to other activities in their busy lives.

“We regret to see the Morgan’s go; however it is entirely understandable that they want to pursue other things in their lives, stated Woodhull owner, Ted White.  Going all the way back to when Scott and Amy Drake owned the track, thru the Vern Wasson years and from my two years of ownership, Morgan’s Auto Repair was one of the most reliable sponsors that we had at the track.  Their presence will be sorely missed.”

However, exit one sponsor and enter another as Joe and Jean Willcox will now be the new sponsors of the Street Stock Division at Woodhull and early indications point to an aggressive involvement for Joe Willcox Performance Automatic Transmissions in their new role of being a class sponsor at Woodhull.

Street Stock competitors that race at Woodhull in 2012 can look forward to at least three and possible a fourth Dash for Cash during the regular race season as well as a season ending high dollar special event for the Top 10 in the Street Stock Division.

“We wanted to mirror what Morgan’s did for the class and take it even further, stated Joe Willcox from his Westfield , Pa. shop.  The Race of Champions Event that they sponsored was a huge success for the competitors and a real thrill for the fans.  We intend to stay with that theme, however instead of just feature winners we will take the current top 10 in points at the time and turn them loose in a high dollar affair.  In addition, because the class is so popular and is filled with some of the most talented drivers that compete at the track we want to give them something back once a month with a Dash for Cash race that will pay some serious money.  Again, this will be an extra treat for the fans and at the same time put some serious bucks into the pockets of the racers.”

The Street Stocks and Joe Willcox Automatics are a good fit as most of the field runs the bullet proof transmissions assembled by Willcox at his Westfield , Pa. shop.

As they have for the past several years, Joe Willcox Performance Automatic Transmissions will present the season opener at Woodhull on Saturday, April 14 and their involvement at the track doesn’t stop there as one again the popular husband and wife duo will sponsor the weekly Junior Fan of the Week Award.  Infield signage wraps up the Willcox families extensive marketing package.

More details and a purse structure for Dash for Cash events will be unveiled at the upcoming Woodhull Raceway Arnot Mall Car show, March 24 and 25, 2012.

Joe Willcox Automatics is located at 1274 Shin Hollow Road , Westfield , Pa. 16950 and can be reached at 814-435-2235.

CRATE SPORTSMAN RULES SET FOR 2012 AND BEYOND AT THE WODHULL RACEWAY.

( Woodhull , NY ) Some 30 Crate Sportsman drivers that compete at the Woodhull Raceway attended an open meeting with Woodhull Raceway Track Officials on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Woodhull Volunteer Fire Department.

During the discussion a number of different topics were addressed, however the main topic of conversation centered in and around the mandatory GM power plant.

Racers that plan on competing in the S&W Awards and Photos Crate Sportsman Division at the Woodhull Raceway in 2012 will see the following rules additions to the existing rules package.

1)          A maximum gear ratio of 6:58.

2)          A $3,300 engine claimer rule with the following stipulations.  The car/engine of the claiming driver and the car/engine being claimed both must finish in the top ten in the feature event and the $3,300 money must be posted with the Pit Stewart prior to the start of the Crate Sportsman feature.

3)          Any engine that IS NOT sealed prior to the start or during the 2012 season must be inspected and sealed by the Woodhull Raceway Technical staff before the car is allowed to compete in the Crate Sportsman Class.

4)          Any engine (components inside the engine) that is found not to be conforming to Woodhull Raceway Crate Sportsman criteria, the driver of that car will not be allowed to race in the Crate Sportsman Division at the Woodhull Raceway for one calendar year.

5)          Beginning at the start of the 2013 race season it will be mandatory that all engines in competition in the Crate Sportsman Division will have to be sealed with an official GM Seal.

All existing Woodhull Raceway Crate Sportsman Rules still apply.

In addition track owner, Ted White and his technical staff discussed the possibility of the track purchasing additional tooling to better police the GM Crate engines including a Whistler as well as a Valve Spring Checker.

Also, drivers and track management discussed ways that race teams that compete in the Crate Sportsman Division can use the Street Stock Class as well as off road and street applications to aftermarket their used Crate engines.
