“FAMILIES IN RACING” SET’S THE TONE FOR THE 2008 WOODHULL/REDLINE/CLINTON COUNTY ARNOT MALLCAR SHOW. The April 5 and 6, 2008 event to be held in Horseheads is anticipated to be the biggest ever.
(Woodhull, NY) With entries rolling in at a brisk pace, the 2008 version of the Woodhull Raceway Car Show is shaping up to be the biggest attended event to date. Like last year the Redline Raceway near Troy, Pa will be a special guest of Woodhull and this season the Clinton County Raceway in Mackeyville, Pa. will also be represented at the annual affair. With last years Arnot Mall Car Show falling on the weekend of the Easter Bunnies appearance at the Horseheads facility it made the theme very easy for car show organizers as virtually every team in attendance had some type of a display or give-a-ways for the thousands of youngsters and Easter shoppers in attendance. With the 2008 event coming early in April and well after Easter has come and gone a new theme has been chosen for this years Woodhull/Redline Clinton County Arnot Mall Car Show. “Families in Racing” will set the tone for this year’s event and with that race teams planning on attending this year’s event are encouraged to set up their display areas accordingly. “Kenny Shupp and I have been so busy getting the 2008 race schedules ready for both Woodhull and Clinton County that the car show hasn’t exactly been at the top of the to do list, stated Woodhull/Clinton County Promoter, Vern Wasson. We have to prioritize things this time of year and the schedule has take center stage for the past two months and now that things are all set to go to print we can move forward with the Annual Arnot Mall Car Show.” It was with a suggestion from one of Woodhull’s biggest supporting couples, Joe and Jean Wilcox that the 2008 theme will be “Families in Racing”. Through their family owned business, Joe Wilcox Performance Automatics of Westfield, Pa. Joe and Jean have become weekly fans of the track. They have sponsored nights of competition, they have an infield billboard, and they have donated numerous prizes for give-a-way’s on the 50/50 drawing. In 2007 they poured cash money into the Morgan’s Auto Repair Street Stock Point fund and will do so again in 2008 by offering incentives to Morgan’s Auto Repair Street Stocks using Joe Wilcox Performance Automatic Transmissions. On top of that their transmissions power many of the top running NAPA 360 Late Model and Morgan’s Auto Repair Street Stock teams. In short, they have become an intrugal part of the weekly program at Woodhull. “Jean called me on the phone the other day and wanted to get onboard to try and help better promote the track, stated Shupp. She and Joe are very sincere in their passion for the Woodhull Raceway and I liked her idea on the Families in Racing theme. Woodhull is very rich in history, tradition and family involvement with generations of drivers, fans and employees being a part of the tracks 44 year history.” Teams and sponsors that are a part of this year’s Woodhull/Redline/Clinton County Arnot Mall Car Show are encouraged to use the Families in Racing theme to better their display areas. Representatives of Woodhull have taken it one step further by sending out a challenge to all participating race teams at this year’s Arnot Mall event. The car or sponsor display that has the best overall “Families in Racing” theme will receive a gift packet including free General Admission and Pit Entry Passes into Woodhull. In addition the chosen display will be the topic of conversation on the tracks weekly audio cast, The Woodhull Raceway Report including an interview with the participating sponsor or the driver of the car on display. On top of that several pictures of the display area will appear on the track web site as well as in The Checkered Flag Magazine, the weekly summer publication at the Woodhull Raceway. “This is an opportunity for every car and sponsor display at this years car show to put some effort into the Families in Racing theme as there will be a tremendous amount of exposure generated not only at the Mall Car Show, but also in subsequent weeks to follow, stated Wasson”. The final choice of which display area to be selected as the overall best of show will be handled by an outside source of anonymous individuals having no affiliation with Woodhull, Redline or Clinton County.
