ALAN CROOKER FAMILY TO BENEFIT FROM STREET STOCK RAFFLE

Coots Concrete of Bath donates Street Stock for the drawing with all proceeds going to the Crooker Family after fire totally destroys their home and belongings.

(Woodhull, NY)  Sunday, December 16 is a day that Alan, Dolores and Kreg Crooker of Savona, NY would like to forget for that was the day that they lost virtually all of their personal belongings to a devastating house fire.  The blaze originated in the garage area of the single floor home and spread quickly throughout the rest of the house.  Both Dolores and Kreg were asleep at the time, but Alan was watching television in the living room when he smelled smoke, saw a flickering of the lights and found that the garage was fully engulfed in flames.  He and his family exited the home with only the clothes on their backs and if weren’t for the quick work of the local fire companies they would have lost all of their Christmas presents.

With the help of the American Red Cross and a slew of well wishers, other family members and friends the Crooker’s are on their way back to some type of normalcy, however it will take some time to rebuild.

“The outpouring of generosity has been a wonderful thing for us stated Alan and Dolores Crooker.  People, some of whom we don’t even know have offered money, food and other gifts.  It is amazing how many folks have tried to help us out during this difficult time.”

The Crooker’s are a family of racers.  Alan is a former standout competitor in both the Mini Stock and Super Stock Classes at the Woodhull Raceway and Black Rock.  His oldest son, Greg is a former Super Stock Track Champion at Woodhull and 14 year old son Kreg has won numerous features at Woodhull in the Warrior Division.  He now competes in the S&W Awards and Photos Crate Sportsman Class at Woodhull.  Alan Crooker is employed by Steve and Kathy Coots of Coots Concrete in Bath.  Coots is a former two time 358 Modified Track Champ at Woodhull and until a few years ago his son Adam was an aspiring Street Stock racer at Woodhull as well.  With family and business commitments Steve and Adam are no longer involved in the sport, but the potent Street Stock piloted by Adam has been graciously donated by the Coots Family to be raffled off with all the proceeds going to the Crooker’s.

The Woodhull Raceway legal Street Stock is a 2003 Dave Machuga creation complete with a fresh Larry Kirkum 400 cubic inch Chevy power plant between the rails making it one of the more competitive cars in the class.  Only 4 races have been put on the car since its last update in 2006, so whoever wins the Raffle Car will have a nice piece with which to compete and although the car complies with Woodhull rules it can be retrofitted to other track rules opening the playing field to any potentially winning ticket holder.  The car’s frame, roll cage and interior are completely repainted and the car comes with a brand new body.  Just letter this baby and go!  It’s a turn key operation!

Raffle tickets will go on sale sometime in January and more information regarding the car itself including pictures, ticket prices and availability along with the date of the drawing will be disclosed within a matter of a few weeks.  Information will be posted on both the Woodhull Raceway (www.woodhullraceway.com) and Life in the Fast Lane (www.fastlaneradio.com) web sites and it is anticipated that the car will be on display at the Woodhull Raceway car show on April 5 and 6.  100% of the proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the Crooker Family.  A similar Front Wheel Drive raffle drawing was held two years ago in an attempt to raise money for the Scott Dennison Memorial Trust Fund with thousands of dollars being generated and it is expected that this car raffle will follow suit.
